The readings and their associated notes were written by Velcheru Narayana Rao in the 1970s at the University of Wisconsin Madison. They were originally written as teaching materials for Wisconsin students studying Telugu on the University's Year-in-India program. We are starting small with just two readings and their notes. In total there are 34 readings which will be added as time permits.

The texts and their explanatory notes are designed to display in separate
scrolling windows so that both the text and notes can be viewed simultaneously.
The readings cover many interesting cultural topics: celebrations of festivals, traditional
beliefs, dining customs, the Simhachalam Temple, clothing and hair styles, etc.
The notes give translations for most of the vocabulary and also explain much of the grammar. The grammar explanations also
give many additional examples and vocabulary. Thus the notes themselves are a rich source of grammar and vocabulary.
The Telugu readings and notes use the Ramaraja Google font.
